Thunderbird Addon

If you have two or more workstations with thunderbird you will want to sync your messages, addressbook and calender. imap does the job for emails. Webdav, Dropbox or Livesync does it for your calenderfiles and could possibly do it for your adressbook too, but there is an native solution by an addon: Addressbooks Synchronizer can sync your adressbook through a bunch of ways. i prefere imap, so there is no dependency on an other service than your mailserver and the transmission is encrypted by the transportlayer. https://addons.mozilla.org/de/thunderbird/addon/2533/

DropBox / Live Mesh 2011

so what is the difference? Live Mesh gives you the possibility to sync files without restriction in the sum of size of all files. you can choose to sync files without using the online space. SkyDrive is the name of the online space, which is 5GB big. Syncing without using SkyDrive is only done when the systems (microsoft call it devices) are online at the same time. So if your systems are never online at the same time your files will never be synced. Keep in mind: Microsoft stopped support for Windows XP (Live Mesh Beta supported xp, but will shut down in 03/2011), but they support MacOSX (>10.5): http://explore.live.com/windows-live-2011-system-requirements If you chosse DropBox you are limited to the size of the online space, which is initial 2GB big. Advantage: you can sync with mobile devices and windows xp, linux, MacOS, Android, Blackbarry, Iphone, Ipad, ... And the best: There are free ressources for developer in multiple languages. https://www.dropbox.com/developers/releases

its a feature - "Consider replacing your battery."

i switched my old toshiba m400 from xp to windows 7. everything worked, but i was irritated by the notification "Sie sollten den Akku tauschen" (="Consider replacing your battery.") This was new to me and XP did not report this problem. First is thought, that this is a compatibilityproblem caused by some bios or driverissue but like http://blogs.msdn.com/b/e7/archive/2010/02/08/windows-7-battery-notification-messages.aspx tells this is just a new feature. crap. again the battery is ready for recycling. by the way: if i plug my additional battery, the warning disapears. this makes sense, because the additional batterypack is quite new.

Nav4All gets down. -------- Original-Nachricht -------- Betreff: Nav4All navigation shut down by Navteq Datum: Mon, 1 Feb 2010 20:50:04 +0100 Von: Nav4All <noreply@nav4all.com> An: bugYourself@gmx.at.local Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 28-01-2010 16:30 GMT+1 Subject: Nav4All navigation shut down by Navteq Letter to 27,625,631 Nav4All navigation customers Dear Customers, It is with the deepest regret that we hereby notify you that the global navigation of Nav4All and the Tracking & Tracing will go offline in 3 days. The reason for the same is that the data licence agreement with Navteq (a 100% Nokia subsidiary) was not extended, in a totally unexpected manner. It is not possible to implement data from another supplier in our Nav4All systems within the short term. The Nav4All navigation system was developed for Navteq data. Nav4All has therefore been constrained to stop
